Chiropractic: Laying the foundation

healthy_chiro_emblem.png

Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care:

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

During the initial exam, a full health history will be taken.  Questions will be asked regarding symptoms, health, and personal lifestyle.  Your acupuncturist also may check pulses and your tongue and may also conduct a physical exam.  This information is then organized to create a complete, accurate, and comprehensive diagnosis to discover where Qi has become blocked or imbalanced.  After the interview process, you may receive an acupuncture treatment.  Visits with you acupuncturist may last anywhere between 30-90 minutes.

How should I prepare for my acupuncture visits?

  • Come with any questions you may have.  Remember, we're here to help you!
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access to acupuncture points.
  • Don't eat large meals just before or just after your visit.
  • Refrain from overexertion, working out, drugs, or alcohol for up to 6 hours after your visit.
  • Avoid stressful situations.  Make time to relax, and be sure to get plenty of rest.
  • Between visits, take note of any changes that may have occurred, such as the alleviation of pain, pain moving to other areas, or changes in the frequency and type of problems.

Massage

candles_big.jpgBefore getting started, we require that you fill out a short health history form, and also accept the terms of the Professional Code of Ethics.  Your therapist will then use your health history to assess the best treatment plan for you.  You will receive your massage in a quiet, private, relaxing room while lying comfortably on a massage table.  During the massage, you will be covered by a sheet and also a blanket.  You may undress to your comfort level, and only the area being worked on will be exposed during your massage.  We offer many different massages, each designed to relax and rejuvenate your muscles.

All of our massage therapists are licensed and certified in the state of Colorado.

Colon hydrotherapy is a safe and comfortable way of cleansing the colon. After a comprehensive health history and current nutritional evaluation, your colon hydro therapist will describe your treatment and answer any questions. During therapy, you will lie comfortably on a custom treatment table while a small, disposable speculum is inserted into the rectum.  Through this speculum, warm, filtered water is gently passed through the colon.  Water temperature and pressure are carefully monitored by the therapist.  Your therapist will use several fills and releases of water, along with light massage, to dislodge toxic waste matter adhering to colon walls.  The dislodged impactions are then gently washed away through the systems waste disposal hose.  This is a closed system, meaning that waste is discreetly transported into the drain line without emitting an offensive odor.  Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes, however 75 minutes should be allowed for each office visit.

We are privileged to participate with our client’s personal health journey by providing them the very best of our knowledge and experience. Our opinion is that colon hygiene is the most powerful health practice as toxic contents are gently evacuated thereby enhancing bowel function, strengthening digestive health and boosting our immune response against disease. We do not arrive at a weakened immune condition overnight nor do we change our health status overnight. Health is not an event it is a daily process. Our clients maintain their personal privacy and dignity during their colonic procedure while experiencing a positive health outcome to calm and balance the body and mind. We share suggestions with our clients for improved digestive health, the principles and benefits of a probiotic diet and offer a variety of educational workshops on health related topics. We offer morning, afternoon/evening and weekend appointments.

How should I prepare for my colon hydrotherapy sessions?

  • Fast for two full hours prior to receiving the service, both of food and liquids.  However, it is very important to drink plenty of water before the fasting period.
  • After sessions, it is vital that you continue to drink plenty of liquids (such as distilled water, juices, herbal teas, and electrolyte liquids).  It's also important to eat pureed foods for 24 hours after the treatment, and to avoid raw vegetables and meats for three days after the treatment.
