Joanne Douglass, L.Ac, MSOM   Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Joanne obtained her training at the Southwest  Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO, where she completed over 3000 hours of training in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has a background in Human Nutrition from Colorado State University and is certified by the National Certification Commision for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is certified in Clean Needle Technique.

Joanne's approach to treatment is with a confident, positive attitude and a gentle touch. She believes that the body is responsible for its' own healing and that the practitioner is simply there to assist it in re-discovering balance. In addition to acupuncture, her treatments may include moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, auricular (ear) therapy, electronic stimulation, tui na bodywork and nutritional and lifestyle counseling. She is a licensed TCM herbalist and is skilled at prescribing a customized herbal formula to address a wide array of health disorders based upon each individual's needs.  She has also received advanced specilaized training in the treatment of women's health disorders and treats women throughout pregnancy, post-partum, labor and delivery, and general gynecological health and maintenance.

In addition to practicing TCM, Joanne mentored with a Kototoma style Japanese acupuncturist and practices this modality as well. This style is modeled around pulse balancing and generally includes abdominal, or hara, diagnosis and treatment, very gentle acupuncture needling, and moxibustion therapy, and is often concluded with Shiatsu style bodywork.

Joanne is also trained in the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture System for the Face. This holistic, non-invasive approach to anti-aging actually builds new collagen and elastin in the skin, resulting in younger, firmer, more supple and radiant looking skin and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. She has administered this program with great success and believes that this natural 'face-lift' is a wonderfully healthy and cost-effective alternative to the dangerous surgeries and expensive injectables available on the market today.

Finally, Joanne earned her Master Degree Practitioner in the Usui System of Reiki. This Japanese energetic healing modality is based on the concept that the universal life force energy that surrounds, binds, and interconnects everything can be focused to pass through the practitioner's hands and into the patient's body to help correct imbalances in energy flow. She uses this training to enhance her conceptualization and sensitivity to the Qi of the patient's body and to that of the universal whole.
